The campsite is a mosaic of vegetation, combining shade, light and freshness. Acacias, plane trees, poplars and mulberry trees provide generous shade in summer. Olive trees, privet, oleanders, fig trees and honey locusts line paths and living areas. This rich plant diversity, typical of southern Ardèche, creates a living landscape that changes with the seasons. Blossoms, foliage and natural fragrances accompany each stay, making nature an essential part of everyday life at La Chapoulière.
A garden campsite shaped with care
Nature at La Chapoulière
At La Chapoulière, nature is never just a backdrop. It is shaped, accompanied and respected every day. Hubert designs the campsite like a living garden: planting, letting things grow, maintaining and reshaping spaces over time to create a balanced and evolving landscape. Grass, shade, scents and natural textures are everywhere. Nature remains free, yet carefully tended. A simple and calming place, where slowing down comes naturally, where you observe, breathe and feel at ease.
Local species that shape the landscape Mediterranean and Ardèche flora
Observe, listen, coexist A discreet but present wildlife
La Chapoulière is also home to a rich and discreet local wildlife. At nightfall, owls can sometimes be heard calling through the trees. Near the river, frogs accompany summer evenings, while dragonflies skim the water during warm hours. Bees, attracted by the acacia blossoms, play their role in the garden’s balance. In the Ardèche river, fish can be observed, and occasionally the traces left by beavers, an emblematic species of the region’s waterways.
